Dear Colleagues,

In February 2010, the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation will be holding its 5th Congress on Infammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) in Prague, Czech Republic. It is with great pleasure to announce this forthcoming meeting, which is the major educational event in the field of IBD for Europe having its popularity gradually extending throughout the world.

The meeting will provide a unique opportunity to gain access tot he latest and best scientific information and education in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Among our aims are the advance in the understanding of the pathophysiology of these complex disorders, the improvement and development of evidence-based guidelines and the definition of better outcome parameters for therapy. By encouraging research/development and fostering international collaboration and friendship, IBD experts strive to bring hope and comport to the many people who suffer from IBD.

The programme is structured in a basic science and clinical sections. Furthermore there will be oral and poster presentations of accepted abstracts and ECCO Fellowships and Grants will be announced. In addition, educational activities such as the 8th IBD Intensive Advanced Course for Junior Gastroenterologists, the ECCO Nurses Network Meeting and the YECCO workshop will take place prior to the actual start of the congress.
